500 hours
6 months
65,000 miles 75,000 miles
Replace Fuel Filter (on engine) 40,000 miles 65,000 miles 75,000 miles
Valve Lash Adjustment Every 4th ODI
Check Coolant Freeze Point At every oil change
Add Extended Life Coolant Extender 600,000 miles with coolant testing
Replace Coolant 1,200,000 miles
Inspect Belts, Air Intake Piping, and Clamps At every oil change

Oil and Oil Filter Information

  • Factory fill: International FE Oil 5W-30 FA-4.
  • Oil specification shown: INTL5W30FA4D, 55-gallon drum.
  • The oil filter uses a cartridge-style design.
  • The filter is located on the driver’s side, closest to the front of the engine.
  • The engine uses a single oil-filter location.
  • The filter cap includes an oil-can logo.
  • The S13 engine is CK4 compatible for top-off and ODI.
  • Oil capacity: 47.5 quarts.

Fuel Filter Information

  • The fuel filter is cartridge style and located on the driver’s side of the engine.
  • The fuel-filter module is positioned rearward of the oil-filter module.
  • The fuel filter includes orientation tabs, while the filter module includes grooves for proper installation.
  • The engine uses a single fuel-filter location.

Dual Stage Aftertreatment Service Intervals

The Diesel Particulate Filter and DEF filter have separate replacement intervals based on average fuel economy.

Service Action ≤5.8 MPG 5.9–8.1 MPG ≥8.2 MPG
Replace Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) 450,000 miles 470,000–645,000 miles 650,000 miles
Service Action ≤5.5 MPG 5.6–8.9 MPG ≥9.0 MPG
Replace DEF Filter 175,000 miles 235,000 miles 285,000 miles

DPF and SCR1 Service Information

  • The DPF is not cleanable and must be replaced.
  • The DPF gasket and wire mesh are one-time-use components.
  • The DPF replacement kit includes the wire mesh, DPF gasket, and DPF cover gasket.
  • SCR1 is replaceable.
  • Once removed, SCR1 cannot be reinstalled because of the welded wire mesh.
  • A special tool is required to remove SCR1. Improper removal can damage the silencer casing.

T14 Automated Service Intervals

T14 transmission-fluid intervals vary by application and average fuel economy. Axle lubrication and filter intervals depend on whether the vehicle operates on highway or off highway.

Service Action Application ≤5.5 MPG 5.5–7.5 MPG ≥7.5 MPG
Transmission Fluid Change (T14)* Long Haul 240,000 miles 520,000 miles 600,000 miles
Short Haul 200,000 miles 325,000 miles 450,000 miles
Severe Duty 160,000 miles 260,000 miles 300,000 miles
Replace Axle Lubrication and Filter 500,000 miles for on-highway applications
250,000 miles for off-highway applications

*Transmission fluid must be changed every five years if the listed mileage interval is not reached.

Transmission Fluid

  • 75W-80 oil.
  • Specific fluid listed for the T14: SH550063250KK, 5-gallon pail.
  • Using the incorrect fluid can cause damage.

Fluid Capacity and Filter Interval

  • T14 without PTO: 21.3 pints.
  • T14 with single or dual PTO: 24.1 pints.
  • Transmission-filter interval: five years or every transmission fluid change.
  • Wire-mesh cartridge filter.
